My Prayer Playlist

Faith, Prayer, Teach us to Pray in 31 Days, Worship / Monday, October 31st, 2016

Music is a gift God has given us to facilitate our communion with Him. Many songs are actually prayers paired with a melody. Today, I want to share my prayer playlist with you.

I have chosen several songs to accompany each section of your prayer guide. If you haven’t downloaded your copy yet, you get yours here.

These songs are all meaningful to me personally and I regularly use them as part of my personal time with God. Listen to the playlist and see if you find a few new gems you haven’t heard yet.

Melody, rhythm, and harmony can help ease our mind, body, and emotions into a place where our spirit is better able to connect with God’s Spirit. Songs are a great aid to fellowshipping at a deeper level with God. Worship is also a powerful ally in our daily battles.

Prayer Playlist: Music to inspire closer communion with your Heavenly Father

There is a ton of great Christian music available today in a wide range of styles. These songs oftenย speak God’s truths directly into our hearts and help us toย articulate to God that which we feel deeply but struggle to express effectively.

I am developing a YouTube playlist with songs related to each section of our prayer guide. You can listen to these songs while you drive, or clean, or fold laundry and use them as prompts to prayer throughout your day.

You can also incorporate them into your prayer guide by listening to a song or two from each section before you begin to pray the corresponding part of the Lord’s Prayer. Be creative! What other ways can you use music to pray continually throughout your day?

It is still a work in progress, so if you know of any awesome songs I’ve left off the list, please let me know in the comments below. If you click on the icon in the upper left corner of the video, it will display a list of all the songs in the prayer playlist.

If you view the video on YouTube, you can also read the whole list of songs in the description box

  1. This is great, Liz! I sure appreciate the time you spent putting this together. What a blessing.

I have some songs that work for me – but perhaps are not for everyone. I’m facing an impending and highly unpleasant demise, and my songs are thus –

“Won’t Back Down” – Tom Petty

“Rooster” – Alice In Chains, and it has the memorable and defiant line, “Can’t snuff the Rooster.” (The song’s a Viet Nam tribute.)

    “Goodnight Saigon” – Billy Joel

    1. Andrew, thanks for stopping by today. I’m not familiar with those particular songs, but I’m glad you’ve found music to inspire you. Everybody needs a playlist for their life! Your courage in facing your illness and all the challenges that come with it is always an inspiration to me. I can see how you would like a song called “Won’t Back Down” because I’m sure you have to make that commitment to yourself every day. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I always appreciate your honest and heartfelt writing.
