“The God who beckons you to love more and more cannot love you more. No matter how you grow in diligence and obedience, you cannot increase His affection for you. No matter how faithful you become, you won’t get a boost in your lovability. At your darkest moment, you were loved to the fullest measure; the same is true at your lightest moment.”
~ Beth Moore, Children of the Day
“I’m like a pom-pom. And God sure did a good craft when He made me!”
~ Rianna, age 3
“I am a dork.” I often say this when I mess up. I often say it in the presence of my children. I am basically modeling self-condemnation to these young hearts who are watching me. I am teaching them by my example the exact opposite of the beautiful Psalm 139:14
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
When we put ourselves down, we are criticizing God’s handiwork in us. He has made us for Himself and He thinks we are beautiful just the way we are. Who are we to disagree?
I love Zephaniah 3:17.
The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
Instead of calling myself a dork, I ought to say, “I am a delight to my Creator and I can’t always hear it, but I know He is rejoicing over me with singing right now.”
Read and believe this confession.
