Welcome to 7 Weeks to a Stronger Body! Over the next 7 weeks, I’m going to share various ways you can build a stronger body.
As busy moms, it’s easy for us to be so focused caring for everyone else, that we often neglect ourselves. For many years, I put everyone else’s needs ahead of my own. Over time, the lack of care for my body took its toll on me, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.[tweetthis hidden_hashtags=”#stronger”]When you’re caring for others, you can’t afford to neglect yourself.[/tweetthis]
As women, our bodies are part of the incredible miracles of growing, birthing, nourishing and nurturing the next generation. In addition, we have the more than full-time job of caring for every need of our little ones while being sleep-deprived and possibly even malnourished (we rarely enjoy our meal while it’s still hot and seldom take the time required to feed ourselves well).
We moms can find ourselves living a so-called “sedentary” lifestyle (as defined by medical health surveys) even though we never sit down and are always carrying 5,000 things plus a couple of small people (either inside our bodies or out—for me it was often both simultaneously).
It is also common for us to work hard all day without a single trip to the potty (at least not unaccompanied anyway). As wonderful as it is that God has included us in His special work of creating and nurturing new people, we must acknowledge how it affects our bodies.
It took me a long time to figure out how important caring for my body is and how to fit it into an already crowded schedule. I want to give you the shortcut. Each week I will post an article about a different aspect of building a stronger body. But first, I want to tell you why building a strong body is so vitally important. All the information and ideas in the world will not help you if you aren’t motivated enough to actually apply them.
It is critically important that you build a stronger body for yourself, for others who love and depend on you, and also for God who gave you your body in the first place.
